Origin Story
My sister and I are the products of an artist and a professional problem solver.
Both our parents worked for themselves in jobs they molded to suit their interests and talents. They fully supported creative pursuits and believed in the value of creative thinking, well-rounded skills, hard work, and faith.
We had a front row seat to not only the joy and flexibility it brought them to manage their own schedules; but also some of the burnout and fatigue that comes with having to set your own boundaries with clients and living without paid time off or “job security”.
As I got older, I realized this attitude towards the arts wasn’t the cultural norm, and I’m so grateful for the foundational confidence it gave me. They taught us to choose our own paths and that sometimes living with less can afford you more freedom overall.
One of my favorite quotes is:
“The harder you work, the luckier you get.”
My husband and I bought our first home right before the pandemic hit, which ended up being very lucky timing. That definitely goes down as one of the best decisions we’ve ever made together! Since then, we’ve spent a good bit of our time fixing it up, project-by-project. We both love to travel, but it always feels good to come back to the woody smell of this place, the trees, and all the surrounding moss.
Working from home does my introverted heart so much good that I actually find myself excited for the occasional opportunity to collaborate in-person. You might see me around the Atlanta area a few times a month, sketching up designs and brainstorming solutions with my clients and colleagues.
